Thinking out of the box!

This is a game that I play with students a bit like pass the parcel. We do it to music and when the music stops a student has a rummage around in the box and pulls out a standard piece of art equipment or media. The idea is to make two suggested uses that are not typical for example: plasticine is usually used for making 3D models so the student may suggest anything other than this, say melting the plasticine and running on a canvas or making impressions in the plasticine and then printing with it! Simple. It just gets them thinking about alternative creative ways of working imaginatively.
They can forfeit a go if they can't think of two uses and I usually get them to make a silly drawing at an easel using their wrong hand facing away from the drawing just to make things harder.
